SUE: Screenreader & Usability Extensions and training concept
Aus SUE
Diesen Artikel auf Deutsch lesen.
The project SUE aims at creating a screen reader for graphical user interfaces on Linux OS.
Its minimum requirement is to support the most common tasks in today's work environments:
- the desktop itself,
- an email client,
- a web browser,
- a text processing program and
- a spreadsheet program.
With regard to the training program which will be based upon the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), the screen reader should also support working with
- presentations,
- databases and
- PDF documents.
The main goal is to provide a highly usable interface to those applications for visually impaired people. The quality of the product will not be limited to the pure accessibility but will achieve a better usability when compared to other screen readers currently on the market.
The project SUE is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and runs from January 2007 till December 2009.
